At Ocean View House we have a deep love for our city and the world around us. Aptly named ‘The Fairest Cape’ since the 16th century, we are constantly reminded of how lucky we are to live here and to call this beautiful and dramatic place home. Located at the southern tip of the massive African continent, we are surrounded by two mighty oceans from which the mountains rise to form the spectacular Cape Peninsula. The environment and all the elements of nature touch our lives daily. We have a rich heritage in the Cape, and, like so many Capetonians, we do not take this privilege lightly. We have pride in our responsibility to preserve and care for our environment – both natural and cultural – for all posterity.
Against this backdrop, married with a deep sense of concern for the responsible stewardship of protecting our natural and cultural heritage, we became one of 19 founding Members in the Pilot Project for Responsible Tourism sponsored by the City of Cape Town in September 2011. By signing the Responsible Tourism Charter we have declared our commitment to the active support of protecting and enhancing the natural, social and economic environments in which we operate.
From our start in September 2011 we have been doing a lot to learn and increase our awareness. We are proud of the results we have accomplished which in turn inspire us further on the many things big and small that we can do to conserve our precious environment and resources. More >
