Be captivated and entertained by the fascinating marine life of the Two Oceans Aquarium in Cape Town.
Cape Town is the meeting point between the Indian and Atlantic Oceans, and also the home of a diverse range of aquatic wild life.
Though our iconic Cape Point offers a majestic view of where these two oceans meet you of course wouldn’t see much of the majestic marine life from atop the peek. But you need not miss out, visit Two Oceans Aquarium in the city and see these wonderful creatures, while you learn about the vast diversity of sea life found within this meeting of two ocean bodies.
Explore a variety of marine life at ‘the Touch Pool’ and the ‘Microscope Exhibit’ where you will enjoy the ‘touch and interact’ with some of the sea creatures such as starfish, sea anemones, and hermit crabs. This is a hands-on learning experience unlike any other!
Pass by the newly revamped ‘Predator Exhibit’ and watch 9 ragged-tooth sharks and other marine life being fed. The Two Oceans Aquarium also houses the ‘Oceans of Contrast’: within these galleries you can be thrilled by the vibrant tropical beauties of the warm Indian Ocean and the cryptic fishes of the Atlantic Ocean as they play hide and seek. Be on the lookout for jellyfish, octopus, honeycomb eels, and our dear friend ‘Nemo’.
Deeper exploration leads to the ‘I & J Ocean Exhibit’ a 10 metre long under water tunnel, with a 9 by 4 metre giant viewing window – an endless view of subtropical species! For the thrill seekers you can arrange to dive in the 6 metre deep tank with a variety of turtles, rays and other incredible sea creatures
There are an endless amount of activities to keep the kids entertained! Take them to the ‘I & J Children’s Play’ for arts and crafts as well as an exciting puppet show. Don’t leave out the ‘Penguin Exhibit’, home to a colony of African penguins and other amphibians. Remember, if you want to see the marine life being fed be sure to check feeding times before your trip!
Speaking of “fed”, food and drinks at the Two Oceans Aquarium are available at Café V as well as in the Children’s Play Centre. This is a great excursion for the entire family!
