Celebrate Nelson Mandela’s Cape Town connections with a special stay at Ocean View House

The world recognises Nelson Mandela this year. On 18 th July he would have celebrated his 100th birthday. In South Africa the celebrations have already started. It is a great opportunity for Ocean View House to recognise Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela who was born in 1918.

So from now until the end of July you can stay in one of our luxurious rooms at the rate of R1918. Take advantage of this great R1918.00 offer.

Spend a weekend in Cape Town and visit the venues that made history with Nelson Mandela. On Robben Island, Mandela and his fellow freedom fighters forged a list of ideas and principals which later became a part of the country’s constitution.

It was on the balcony of the City Hall an imposing Edwardian building opposite the Grande Parade in Cape Town where Nelson Mandela made his first speech in freedom. A crowd of thousands gathered to listen to him following his release from prison earlier that day.

Later as South Africa’s President Nelson Mandela was at Green Point Stadium. Madiba, as he is affectionately known, hosted the 46664 Concert to raise awareness for HIV and Aids. 46664 was the number of his cell on Robben Island and the concert started a whole series of 46664 concerts worldwide. Today the area around the stadium is a beautiful park with fun for the whole family.

Recognition indeed when in 1993 Mandela, together with FW de Klerk, was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his contribution to the peaceful change of regime and for laying the foundations for a new democratic South Africa. At the Waterfront you can have your photograph taken with Tata Madiba and other South African Nobel Peace prize laureates at Noble Square.

Nelson Mandela is inextricably linked to Cape Town.

With our R1918 special offer, at OceanView House we are doing our bit to honour Nelson Mandela’s memory and to celebrate hiscentenary with you.
