Grab your beret and head to the Franschhoek Bastille Festival on July 14 & 15 to immerse yourself in the valley’s French heritage, cuisine and world-class wines.

Situated a little over an hour away from Ocean View House in Cape Town, nestled in a beautiful valley in the Cape Winelands, lays the little town of Franschhoek, with its iconic Cape Dutch architecture and centuries-old vineyards, this ‘French corner’ is famed for its world-class cuisine and wines – owing to its mostly French and Dutch heritage.

On the 14th and 15th of July this magnificent town will be hosting its 25th annual Franschhoek Bastille Festival at the historic Franschhoek Huguenot Monument. Dress up in French colours, pop on your beret and join in on this fun-filled weekend where you can indulge like a true Parisian in ‘la belle vie’ – and the good life it truly is.

Though the entire town may be bustling with excitement over the weekend, the Food & Wine Marquee is where you will want to be! Taste the vast variety of superb Franschhoek wines on offer and enjoy delicious world-class French cuisine from renowned eateries. Apart from embracing the valley’s heritage, you can also join in on the Porcupine Ridge Barrel Rolling Competition or have your portrait drawn by a caricature artist, while jamming to the sounds of live music topping off the festival experience!

Celebrating Bastille in our beautiful Franschhoek valley, with all the hype and atmosphere won’t cost you much but we do suggest you pre-book your tickets to the Food & Wine Marquee! Tickets include a complimentary tasting glass as well as a booklet of coupons, and children under the age of 18 enter for free!

For all those outdoor loving people the Salomon Bastille Day Trail Run offers a run through the Franschhoek Mountains, most possibly snow too! This run is sold out every single year and a true wilderness adventure. It’s an excellent start to the Bastille festivities in Franschhoek for this mid-July weekend.
