If you are lucky enough to be in Cape Town for the Mining Indaba next year, a little extra planning can turn a successful business trip into an amazing pleasurable experience for you and your partner.
Everyone is talking about booking early for the 25th anniversary of the Investing in African Mining Indaba and the signs are 2019 is going to be a very special event. The event is scheduled for 4 to 7 February 2019 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.
Finding suitable accommodation can be a big deal at the best of times. There is so much to choose from in Cape Town and February is high season for holidaymakers and conference goers alike. Don’t just take ‘what’s available’ choose your hotel wisely and book as early as you can. Of course, the room should be spacious and comfortable with all the facilities you will need. Free, fast WIFI is a must as are sufficient plug points and a desk, so you can catch up on mails or make skype calls. But what about the surroundings? Cape Town has so much to offer and so many views to enjoy. Being a short drive away from the Convention Centre can actually be a plus. Ask if the hotel or guest house has an in-house spa, a garden, a pool and if it is safe to take a morning jog or an evening stroll?
Ocean View House is ideally situated, close to Camps Bay and all the buzzing restaurants and of course the property has great ocean views. Our privately-run Boutique Hotel is set in beautiful grounds with modern spacious, well-appointed rooms. What better place to relax before your next hectic day at the Indaba? The helpful reception staff will gladly assist with any queries you or your partner may have. The sightseeing bus stops just outside Ocean View House, perfect for a top deck trip around town. The Waterfront and the Cape Town Convention Centre are just a few minutes away by taxi, which of course can be pre-booked, and Uber is also widely used in Cape Town. The Victoria & Alfred Waterfront , or V&A is it’s locally known, offers the widest selection of restaurants and shops and you will certainly noticed that the prices are very attractive.
In the Convention Centre the weather will be the last thing on your mind but outside the Cape Town sun will be shining all day, a gentle reminder not to forget that sunblock when you do get out and about.Definitely plan some free time into your schedule, and if it is a cloudless, wind free day, head to Table Mountain. The cable car is actually out of action more often than you think, so if you have the opportunity go for it and enjoy the spectacular views.
Cape Town is truly a magical city so when you are here on business add a day or two and make the most of it. Make it a successful trip and enjoy your stay!
